Minutes of the October 4, 2003 monthly meeting of the
Henry L. Kinney Chapter #17, Sons of the Republic of Texas
Grady Price Blount*
Tom Gomez, Jr.*
The October 2003 meeting was called to order at 10 AM by President Grady Price Blount. He displayed and acknowledged the donation by Tom Gomez, Jr. of an SRT lectern banner. Thanks were passed around for Tom.
Grady reported on our attendance at the 190th anniversary of the Battle of Medina with special thanks to Gerry Miller and Dan Byerly for showing up in period costume. Mr. Rudy “Tejano” Pena of Corpus Christi was one of the speakers and did a fine job.
Grady also reported that only 3 people had shown up for the September meeting and no official actions were taken. The group present voted to move our regular monthly meetings to the first Tuesday night of each month at 7 PM. John Clanton volunteered to see if we could use the Corpus Christi Yacht Club. Grady will get back with everyone via email with the results of that inquiry and to confirm the location of the November 2003 meeting.
Dan Byerly had one new member application. It was signed by Clanton, Gomez, and Blount.
Tom reported that our bank account balance is $790.53 and that a $14.80 check to Grady is still outstanding. Grady indicated that he could not find the check and to add that balance back into the balance.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:52 AM.
